West Kowloon police have arrested three men for possessing and using counterfeit banknotes as officers believe they have successfully stopped the fake money from entering the market. After intelligence analysis, police intercepted two suspicious men in a Tsim Sha Tsui hotel on Tuesday night and found a total of 4,577 fake HK$1,000 banknotes in one of the men’s luggage. The two local men, aged 37 and 43, were arrested for possessing counterfeit notes. On Wednesday afternoon, police also arrested a 43-year-old man in Mong Kok who suspectedly used counterfeit HK$100 and HK$500 banknotes for three taxi rides in the district. All three are currently remanded in custody for further questioning.
