The tax records of PD1 callers are also stored separately from ordinary users' information for security purposes, The Times reports. It added that it lacked the resources to meet expected service standards for waiting times. Lib Dem Treasury spokeswoman Sarah Olney said: 'This shocking discrepancy shows there is a VIP lane for HMRC calls, allowing some to skip the queue to discuss their tax problems.'
