St George begin their title defence when they take on Wolkite City in the BetKing Ethiopia Premier League, and their closest rivals last season, Ethiopian Insurance and Bahir Dar City face each other. The "Horsemen" have won the last two championships and are the bookmakers' favourites to make it a hat-trick of titles. Their opponents, Wolkite, survived relegation on the last day of the season but will be without the services of their Captain and top striker for the last two seasons, Getaneh Kebede.
