The president cautioned that prolonging the crisis could have serious economic consequences, particularly amid expectations of rising petroleum product prices. Sisi made the remarks during an iftar banquet hosted by the Police Academy in the presence of Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, Interior Minister Mahmoud Tawfik, Assistant Interior Minister and head of the academy Nidal Youssef, ministers, Police Academy students and their families. According to Presidential Spokesman Mohamed al-Shenawy, Sisi stressed the importance of learning from the lessons of of 2011 challenges to avoid repeating them. He thanked the ministry for its efforts to maintain stability and security, noting that its work over the past decade has gone hand in hand with efforts to combat terrorism. Sisi also stressed the need for police officers to treat citizens well and concluded his remarks by praying for the protection of Egypt and for the country to overcome the current crisis.
