CAIRO – 10 August 2021: A shipment of 525,000 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine arrived, Tuesday at Cairo International Airport from the Romanian government to Egypt. The shipment comes as part of a tripartite agreement between the Ministry of Health and Population, the Romanian government and the “AstraZeneca” company, in light of the depth and interdependence of the close historical relations between the two countries. Egypt’s Health Minister Hala Zayed and Minister Plenipotentiary at the Romanian Embassy in Cairo Constantin Robert Rosulescu reviewed Tuesday ways to enhance cooperation for combating Covid-19 and promoting access to vaccines. During their meeting, Zayed thanked the Romanian government for supporting Egypt with 525,000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine, as part of a trilateral agreement involving AstraZeneca plc. The two sides shared lessons learned during the two countries' fight against the pandemic, according to a statement by Health Ministry Spokesman Khaled Megahed.
