Natasha Smith killed a security guard after he challenged her in an Arbroath supermarket (Image: Police Scotland )Supermarket security staff have reported a terrifying surge of violence in Scottish stores just days after a shoplifter was jailed for killing a guard. ‌A poll of security staff in supermarket giant Asda exposed a terrifying upsurge in trouble on the shopfloor amid fears the outsourcing of security staff there will put even more workers – and shoppers – at risk, reports The Daily Record. ‌More than a third of staff, 36 per cent, reported being assaulted, while 83 per cent said they have suffered or witnessed verbal abuse, including racist insults and threats of violence. The GMB survey, which quizzed 100 guards working in stores around Scotland was returned last week, revealing less than half, 46 per cent, of security guards feel safe at work.
