S. Reflecting on the Chandrayaan-3 mission launch, he mentioned experiencing health concerns, though he admitted to not fully grasping the situation at the time. Additionally, Somanath disclosed that the diagnosis coincided with the day of the Aditya-L1 mission launch, surprising him, his family, and colleagues. On September 2, 2023, during the Aditya L1 solar observatory’s launch, S. Somanath’s routine scan unexpectedly revealed a stomach growth. Despite uncertainties, S. Somanath’s recovery from cancer has been miraculous.
