S. Somanath, the Chief of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), disclosed in an interview that he was diagnosed with cancer on the same day that India’s Aditya-L1 mission was launched into space. Reflecting on the Chandrayaan-3 mission launch, he mentioned experiencing health concerns, though he admitted to not fully grasping the situation at the time. Additionally, Somanath disclosed that the diagnosis coincided with the day of the Aditya-L1 mission launch, surprising him, his family, and colleagues. On September 2, 2023, during the Aditya L1 solar observatory’s launch, S. Somanath’s routine scan unexpectedly revealed a stomach growth. Despite uncertainties, S. Somanath’s recovery from cancer has been miraculous.
