Royal Air Maroc has confirmed a repeat order for two Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners. The North African airline, currently operating nine Dreamliners, underscores the efficiency and flexibility of the 787 family in its strategy to modernize and grow its widebody fleet. According to Abdelhamid Addou, Chairman and CEO of Royal Air Maroc, “The two Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners will enable Royal Air Maroc to expand in the short-term its long-haul network in response to the highly favorable market conditions in 2023.”This order comes at a pivotal moment for the airline, as it actively pursues a significant tender with aspirations to quadruple its fleet before 2037. The US manufacturer revealed during the Dubai Airshow 2023 that the state-owned carrier’s commitment was previously attributed to an unidentified customer and includes a mix of 787-8s and 787-9s, showcasing Royal Air Maroc’s commitment to diversifying its widebody airplane count. Royal Air Maroc, a member of the oneworld Alliance, serves 82 destinations in 41 territories globally, with a focus on major capitals in Europe, Africa, North America, and the Middle East.
