General News of Sunday, 17 November 2024Source: www.ghanaweb.comThe Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, has issued a stern warning to Ghanaians to avoid any form of misconduct as the elections approach. Speaking at the commissioning of a new police station in Akyem-Manso in the Eastern Region, Dr. Dampare emphasised that anyone caught engaging in electoral malpractice will face severe legal consequences. "Do not be tempted to cause trouble during the elections, because my officers will not hesitate to act," he warned. The IGP reassured the public of their readiness to maintain a peaceful election environment, stating, "We are fully prepared, and I can confidently say that the elections will be peaceful." IGP Dampare also reminded citizens to be guided, as those who usually encourage them to indulge in such acts (politicians), will abandon them once legal action is taken.
