Several resorts and hotels in the Red Sea have launched the “Plant a Tree Bearing Your Name” initiative to help attract tourists and encourage repeat visits. Kamel said that the idea was well-received among tourists, who took souvenir photos while planting trees. Since the tree will bear their names they can follow its growth on every visit, she explained, adding that children also took part in the initiative. Another Red Sea resort allocated a farm of fruit trees for permanent tourists, under the “For Peace and Love” initiative. Ammari added the initiative aims to serve both tourism and environmental purposes.
