As Algeria’s military ruler general Said Chengriha visits Doha, Qatari foreign minister was attending a Gulf Cooperation Council meeting that reiterated support for Morocco’s sovereignty over the Sahara territory. The GCC meeting reaffirmed support for Morocco’s sovereignty over the Sahara and backed King Mohammed VI Atlantic initiative to offer Sahel countries access to global trade. After years of ruling the country behind a thin civilian curtain, Algerian army ruler Chengriha is now openly steering the country’s foreign policy. The country has tried three foreign ministers since puppet civilian president Tebboune took office. As it continues to pursue the separatist chimera, Algeria is poised to further undermine itself in a rapidly evolving world geering towards more support for Morocco’s historic rights to the Sahara territory.
