The Afghan Taliban authorities in Kabul said the strikes hit a drug treatment centre, killing civilians – a claim Pakistani security sources rejected as “ridiculous”. The clashes intensified after Afghanistan launched a border offensive in response to earlier Pakistani air strikes targeting terrorist positions.
