Power Generation at Barapukuria Fully Shutdown Staff Crosspondent, Dhaka (Sunday, October 20, 2025):Electricity generation at the Barapukuria Thermal Power Plant in Dinajpur has come to a complete Shutdown due to mechanical faults. Chief Engineer Abu Bakar Siddique told bdnews24.com that power generation at Unit 1 stopped on Sunday morning after a boiler pipe burst. Following the shutdown of Unit 3 earlier, around 50 megawatts of electricity from Unit 1 had been supplied to the national grid. Efforts are underway to restart both units, but it will take at least a week to resume generation. The three-unit power plant has a total capacity of 525 megawatts.
