The prime minister said the combination of police deployment 'in numbers' and the criminal justice system 'working speedily' deterred the far right from staging rallies in towns and cities across England on Wednesday evening. Speaking to the press after a visit to a mosque and community centre in Solihull, Starmer said the measures and subsequent sentencing of offenders had 'sent a very powerful message', adding: 'But I also think that the work that's being done jointly to reassure our communities is becoming more effective'
