The Cebuana Lhuillier-backed Philippine team demolished Thailand, 31-11, to reach the finals of the Co-ed Slow-Pitch Softball Asia Cup on Friday, May 26, in Pattaya, Thailand. More importantly, the Philippines accomplished its main mission to qualify in the WBSC Slow-Pitch Softball World Cup slated to take place later this year. "I am so proud of our Philippine team," said Jean Henri Lhuillier, president of the Amateur Softball Association of the Philippines (Asaphil). "I vow to support them all the way to the World Cup." At stake in the Asia Cup are World Cup berths for the top three teams in the tournament.
