An Ohio man has pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity in connection to a deadly stabbing at an Interstate 80 rest stop near Grand Island in June that left a 72-year-old man fatally wounded and the victim's wife seriously injured. James Thompson Jr., a 22-year-old from Elyria, Ohio, appeared by video from the Hall County jail for the arraignment hearing Tuesday. Deputies found Mary Weaver on the ground bleeding beside their RV and her husband, Gary Weaver, inside bleeding from his chest and head. When the woman tried to get away, Thompson followed, stabbing her multiple times before driving away in a Ford Focus. Thompson got out and ran but was arrested a short distance away with blood on his shirt and cuts on his hand.
