The number of Egyptian students attending UK universities has increased from 1,695 students in 2014/15 to 2,895 students in the 2019/20 academic year, marking a 70 percent increase, official statistics report. Erudera.com reports that while the UK experienced a healthy increase in Egyptian students throughout the past years, the total number of international students increased by just five percent 2011/12 and 2017/18 academic years. Last year, the group of 2,895 Egyptian students went to study in the following UK countries:2,585 students went to England90 students to Wales200 students to Scotland25 students to Northern IrelandSimilarly, in 2012/13, the majority of Egyptian students (970) attended a university in England, 135 studied at a Scottish university, 110 went to Wales, while 20 students pursued studies at a university located in Northern Ireland. Data show that there were 485,645 international students pursuing their higher studies in the UK during the 2018/19 academic year, 143,025 of whom were from the EU and 342,620 non-EU.
