By Evans OngwaeIn December 2023, Railway Training Institute’s (RTI’s) Kisumu Marine School was accredited by the Kenya Maritime Authority (KMA) to offer Basic Marine Safety Training (STCW Training). RTI is offering people who want to work at sea the opportunity to acquire skills on basic marine safety. People who want to undertake this course should have acquired training that can be applied in the marine industry. The training at the Kisumu Marine School is thus helping the country meet the requirements of skilled marine manpower. Under this arrangement, hospitality graduates from Utalii will be trained at the Kisumu Marine School on basic marine safety to enhance their employability in the marine industry and cruise ships.
