Drama as mourners pick wrong body for burial in morgue mix-upThere was drama in Chesikaki ward in Bungoma after mourners mistakenly took the wrong body from the mortuary for burial. Area Chief James Kabunje said the confusion arose because there were two bodies with similar names at the mortuary. The chief added that the team sent by the family to identify the body had been terrified by the mortuary environment, leading them to make the mistake. According to Kabunje, preparations for the burial had to be stopped after the family received a call from the mortuary informing them that they had taken the wrong body. The body that had been taken to Chesikaki for burial was later returned to the funeral home to be released to the other family.
