While acknowledging that the other four contestants are equally capable and have shown commitment to the party, Dr Opoku Prempeh said he believes Dr Bawumia remains the most appropriate candidate, with the right exposure and meeting the necessary criteria to lead the NPP into the 2028 general elections. Dr Opoku Prempeh said the peace memorandum must not be treated as a mere ceremonial document, but a binding commitment that should guide the conduct of aspirants, campaign teams and supporters before, during and after the primaries. “After the contest, we must remain one party—united behind the elephant—and firmly committed to supporting whoever is chosen to lead,” he said in a firm but measured tone. He expressed appreciation to the NEC, the five candidates and all stakeholders whose efforts made the signing possible, describing it as an important step to safeguard party unity and strengthen internal democracy. Dr Opoku Prempeh concluded by urging party members to uphold peaceful politics and reject any conduct that could breed division, insisting that the NPP’s strength lies in discipline and shared purpose.
