Lack of security has become widespread in Nigeria and is a key concern for voters ahead of a February 25 election. More than 40 people have been killed in clashes between gunmen and vigilantes in Nigeria’s northern Katsina state, the latest violence ahead of parliamentary and presidential elections. A local vigilante group mobilised and pursued the gunmen, which led to the deadly clash and large loss of life on Thursday, the spokesperson said. Two security sources put the death toll in Katsina at 50. Those injured in the clashes were taken to Kankara hospital in the state, the sources said.
