Malaysia is looking to attract more than 300,000 Bangladeshi tourists in 2026 after recording 185,000 visitors in the first eight months of 2025. As part of its revival strategy, Malaysia has declared 2026 the “year of tourism”, with the goal of attracting 47 million visitors under its “Visit Malaysia” campaign. “Malaysia wants to bring more tourists from Bangladesh,” he said, noting that Tourism Malaysia operates an overseas office in Dhaka. Mohammad Shoeb, Tourism Malaysia’s Bangladesh marketing manager, said roughly 140,000 Bangladeshis travelled to Malaysia in 2024. “We expect more than 300,000 tourists from Bangladesh to visit Malaysia next year,” he told bdnews24.com.
