Libya and Italy discussed the establishment of an Italian-Libyan hospital and medicine manufacturing at the stalled Qaddafi-era Al-Maya medicine factory. The discussions took place during a meeting yesterday between the Tripoli based Deputy Libyan Prime Minister and Acting Minister of Health, Ramadan Abu Janah, and Italian Ambassador to Libya, Gianluca Alberini, and his accompanying delegation, at the Ministry of Health’s Tripoli headquarters. The meeting discussed aspects of bilateral cooperation and joint projects between the two countries in the health sector, including opportunities to expand future cooperation horizons between Libya and Italy in the areas of: training medical personnel, exchanging experiences and transferring medical technology. The two sides discussed opportunities for cooperation in the field of medicine manufacturing through cooperation between Italian companies and the Al-Maya medicine factory, in addition to supporting health facilities in the southern region. They also discussed opportunities to increase Italian investments in the health system in Libya, which will have a positive impact on the quality of medical services provided to citizens.
