LAHORE: The vibrant kite-flying fever in Punjab’s capital fades today as the three-day Basant celebrations draw to a close. The final day of the Basant festival is being celebrated in Lahore on Sunday with great enthusiasm, as the city remains vibrant with colourful kite-flying activities. Rooftops in the walled city are filled with people of all ages flying kites and competing in kite-cutting, while the sky is dotted with bright, multi-coloured kites. Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Nawaz Sharif celebrated Basant in the Walled City, while Hamza Shehbaz marked the occasion in the Lohari Gate area. Punjab Senior Minister Maryam Aurangzeb was also seen flying kites.
