Former Makueni County Governor Kivutha Kibwana has criticised Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka over plans to court Mt Kenya region. In a statement on X, Kibwana said it did not add up for the Azimio co-principal to say he was fighting tribalism and then talk about courting the region. "How can you say you are fighting tribalism as the tribeless Gen Zs and then in the same breath state you are courting Mt Kenya? He pledged continued engagement and outreach to community leaders, even as he positions himself to win Mt Kenya's favour in the 2027 general elections. At the time, Kalonzo revealed that he was in regular contact with former President Uhuru Kenyatta.
