Jaguar Land Rover is in talks with the Government about a taxpayer-backed rescue package for hundreds of its suppliers after a cyber attack brought production to a standstill. Such a rescue deal would be first of its kind following a cyber attack. JLR losing £72m in sales every dayIt is understood workers at JLR have been asked to remain on standby until Wednesday Sept 17. A total shutdown of JLR in September would cost its suppliers, roughly half of whom are based in the UK, an estimated £1bn. This week, MPs on the business select committee asked Adrian Mardell, Jaguar Land Rover’s chief executive, to consider whether any taxpayer support would be needed to provide stability to JLR’s suppliers.
