CAIRO – 19 September 2022: The Egyptian archaeologists uncovered blocks of white cheese over 2,600 years old, dating back to 664-525 BC, in Saqqara, National News reports. Director of the Saqqara Antiquities Area Mohammad Youssef Oyan revealed the details of the strange archaeological discovery in the area, explaining that the ancient Egyptians believed in resurrection, and often placed offerings next to the mummies. Among the strangest of these offerings is cheese. The Saqqara necropolis contains one of the largest collections of antiquities in Egypt. Since 2018, various expeditions have uncovered notable finds in the area, including a cache of more than 100 sarcophagi.
