Mr Miller was conveyed to West Cumberland Hospital, where the emergency department continued attempts to revive Mr Miller, but clinicians decided to stop treatment, and Mr Miller was pronounced dead at 8.59pm. He said that Mr Miller was in an ‘overall poor health condition’, and noted previous markers for drugs, including heroin. Ms Taylor said that a post-mortem examination revealed that ‘it was clear that Mr Miller was not a well man’. The post-mortem found no single medical condition that would have caused Mr Miller’s death, ‘save for’ coronary artery atherosclerosis and COPD. She said: “Of significance is the fact there is no evidence at all of any third-party involvement in Mr Miller’s death.”Ms Taylor registered Mr Miller’s death as drug-related.
