The Indian Air Force (IAF) has grounded its fleet of single-seat Tejas Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) after another jet crashed earlier this month, news agency PTI reported. The pilot ejected safely.In November 2025, another Tejas aircraft went down during an aerobatic display at the Dubai Airshow, killing the pilot. Investigators continue to examine the circumstances surrounding that crash.The latest accident comes amid delays in deliveries under the Tejas Mk1A programme. Deliveries are running nearly two years behind schedule.In September 2025, the Defence Ministry inked a ₹62,370 crore contract for the acquisition of 97 Tejas Mk-1A light combat aircraft. The Mk-1A is a versatile multi-role fighter capable of undertaking air defence operations, maritime reconnaissance, and strike missions.
