The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission has broken its silence following alleged existence of ghost polling stations in parts of Baringo county. According to the IEBC, the process of identifying and designating polling stations for purposes of elections involves collaboration with stakeholders. IEBC clarified that the total number of polling stations used in the 2022 general election were 46,229. Debate surrounding the alleged ghost polling stations emerged following an expose by NTV about the existence of ghost schools in Baringo county. They include Kaptiony Girls' High School, Kasaka Mixed Secondary School, Kampi Ya Nyasi Secondary School, and Kasaka Primary School.
