I volunteered for a day at a St. John’s food bank. Customers receive such a food package every month. Most people don’t realize that a food bank can’t feed them all month. Working people who live off credit cards have been reaching out to the food bank for the first time recently, says director Jody Williams. Volunteers pack dozens of boxes and bags every morning when the food bank is open.
