Beatrice, Gage County and the surrounding area faced extreme heat Monday and has more coming Tuesday, with the National Weather Service issuing a heat advisory for both days. The weather service generally issues heat advisories when the heat index is expected to reach 100 degrees or more for at least two consecutive days. Monday's forecast high was 102 degrees with a heat index of 107, with a heat advisory from 1 to 8 p.m. Tuesday's forecast high is 98, with the heat index expected to reach as high as 105 in the afternoon. Tuesday's advisory is from 1 to 7 p.m.Wednesday should bring some relief, with the forecast high in the upper 80s.
