The fatal collision took place on the M6 northbound just before Junction 45, near Gretna, at 6:42 am on Thursday, October 2. Costica Balan, aged 63, from Spalding in Lincolnshire, died at the scene. Mr Balan was Romanian and had lived in the UK for the past 16 years, working as a HGV driver. His family said he was a ‘beloved husband and father who will be dearly missed by everyone’.
