HÀ NỘI — HCM City has contributed significantly to the better-than-expected results of Việt Nam’s tourism industry last year, solidifying its pivotal role in the recovery and growth of the sector. The southern economic hub welcomed nearly five million foreign tourists and nearly 35 million domestic tourists, accounting for 40 per cent and 32 per cent of the nation’s respective total numbers. As a result, it raked in over VNĐ160 trillion ($6.6 billion) in tourism revenue. Also last year, HCM City announced nearly 50 tourism projects, with 20 new ones for medium- and high-class segments. This year, Việt Nam is set to serve 18 million foreign and 110 million domestic visitors, with total tourism revenue approaching VNĐ850 trillion.
