Canadians and Canadian news outlets can’t currently post or share any news content on Facebook or Instagram. The entirety of Yellowknife, N.W.T., is under an evacuation order, and evacuations are also underway in parts of Kelowna, B.C. In a statement Friday, a Meta spokesperson pointed to the company’s “safety check” feature, which allows people to mark themselves as safe in an emergency.
