Google reentered the augmented reality (AR) technology scene on Tuesday by announcing new public testing plans for its smart glasses prototype. Google is expanding its public AR prototype trial from its initial private in-lab testing period to understand better how its extended reality (XR) product can change how individuals live and work. Although Google is not testing photo or video recording features, it will use the device’s onboard cameras to test AR visualisations, including navigation, translation, transcription, and visual search.
