The Georgia football team received a heroes' welcome upon arriving in Tbilisi, Georgia, from the European Championships. Tens of thousands of people packed Tbilisi's central square to celebrate with the team. Georgia was the lowest-ranked team at Euro 2024 and exited the tournament after losing 4-1 to Spain in the round of 16. However, they went down fighting after taking the lead early on. Despite this being the country's first ever international tournament, Georgia seemed fearless and managed one of the biggest upsets in the competition's history by beating Portugal in the group stage.
