Looking at your own sources you posted, I'm not seeing where they're trying to cover anything up. At no point are they claiming the shooter who tried to kill Trump was Iranian. (Source: Your own link to The Guardian)The "Iranian plot" to kill Trump is completely unrelated to both of these, and the CNN article that Valwinz posted states that there is no connection to the Trump shooter. It's simply possible information that they're looking into, and Iran is presently denying. To be on the safe side, could you copy/paste the relevant part you're claiming they're saying and put it in a quote here?
