The quota reform movement, first ignited at Dhaka University, had long demanded equity in public recruitment. On that day, clashes raged throughout the night at Dhaka University between students protesting quota reform and police alongside Chhatra League activists. The quota reform agitation that began in June 2024 evolved from July under the banner of the Anti-discrimination Student Movement.
