article contentOTTAWA — Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland touted the billions of dollars of subsidies her government is providing to invest in Canada's net-zero ambitions to the global elite gathered in Davos on Thursday. “Canada is absolutely determined that decarbonization for us will mean more jobs, more growth, more manufacturing. And we believe the government needs to play a role in making that happen,” he told a World Economic Forum (WEF) panel on trade and investment. We think this is a moment when the cement is being poured for the new economy,” she said. Freeland noted Canada's abundance of critical minerals, metals and renewable energy and said the government is “investing heavily” in building more renewable energy.
