And we believe the government needs to play a role in making that happen,” he told a World Economic Forum (WEF) panel on trade and investment. We think this is a moment when the cement is being poured for the new economy,” she said. Freeland noted Canada's abundance of critical minerals, metals and renewable energy and said the government is “investing heavily” in building more renewable energy.
