Four foreign nationals who police say are Ethiopians were on Wednesday arrested in Mlolongo, Machakos county for allegedly being in the country illegally. They approached them and upon inquiry, the four were established to be Ethiopians," a police report seen by the Star reads in part. "They didn't have any documents allowing them to be in the country and were arrested," the report adds. Some Ethiopians have been fleeing their country since the Tigray region was plunged into conflict in 2020. Several million of them need humanitarian assistance to overcome food insecurity and climate crises and the repercussions of the conflict.
