Elon Musk changes CBC’s label to ‘69% government funded’ after broadcaster announces Twitter pause

Elon Musk has changed CBC’s “government funded” label to read “69% government funded media” after the public broadcaster announced Monday it will be pausing its activities on Twitter. CBC’s break will extend to all the public broadcaster’s news and corporate Twitter accounts, a spokesperson for the company told the Star. The CBC has since sent a letter to Twitter asking the platform to reconsider the designation, they continued. In the minutes following the broadcaster’s announcement, several CBC journalists said they’ll follow suit and take a leave from Twitter. When asked for comment, Twitter responded with a poop emoji — as it has done for all media inquiries since March.
