Jan. 19—A CBC.ca headline that starts with "Fugitive cows ..." is a certified eye-catcher, and one the Ear could not resist. A herd of more than 20 unruly dairy cows have been gallivanting about rural Quebec, Canada, after being spooked by a thunderstorm last July. An attempt by UPA Mauricie was made to round up the refugees in October by using barriers and cowboys on horses. The venture failed dismally when, after being successfully corralled, one cow got loose and the rest quickly followed. With little food on the ground during winter, the enclosures were a hit in attracting the runaways.
