CAIRO – 16 August 2021: Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry assured to his Algerian counterpart Ramtane Lamamra, Egypt’s full solidarity with his country over the recent wildfires that swept through several parts of the North African country. Up to ninety Algerian were reported dead as a result of the country's wildfires during the past week. Algerian President Abdel Majid Taboun, said that some of these fires were intended and that 22 suspects were arrested and are being investigated, after being accused of setting fires deliberately. Earlier this month, Shoukry and Lamamra have strongly underlined deeply rooted cooperation ties between Egypt and Algeria in various domains. The message focuses on the need to enhance historic ties between Egypt and Algeria, Lamamra reiterated, lauding Cairo’s ongoing support for Algiers.
