The government has decided to reduce the import duty on eggs as part of efforts to stabilise prices. He added that the import duty on eggs has been reduced from 33 percent to 13 percent, effectively affording a 20 percent waiver. The deputy press secretary said a meeting was held at the Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection with egg suppliers and wholesalers. "It was decided in the meeting that wholesalers will purchase eggs directly from farmers to help reduce prices and bring them down to a more affordable level," he said.
