Rayma Volkmer of Wymore started sewing historical clothing about 20 years ago and is now considered a living historian. “My mom gave me an old treadle sewing machine and for the first two years I used it as a plant stand." In 2004, her kids wanted to dress in pioneer clothing for Homestead Days because some of their friends were dressing up. I had no real experience, but I’ve made tons of clothes and immersed myself in history after that.”Volkmer specializes in crafting Victorian clothing on antique treadle sewing machines. “The style of this dress is period correct and the sewing methods, but the material is not correct on this dress.
