More than a hundred people have been treated at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) after sustaining injuries from sharp tools while slaughtering and butchering sacrificial animals during Eid-ul-Azha. Mushtak Ahmed, the hospital’s resident surgeon, confirmed that the injured individuals came from Dhaka and surrounding areas throughout the day on Saturday, seeking emergency treatment, according to bdnews24.com. “Most of those who required medical attention were seasonal butchers,” Mushtak said. Most of the injured were “one-day butchers”: individuals who were attempting to slaughter their own sacrificial animals without professional experience. Similar incidents were reported from Cumilla and Brahmanbaria, where over 150 people were reportedly injured while carrying out the Eid sacrifice.
