Christmas is a painful reminder of the family I left behind when I immigrated to Canada. The night before Christmas was the most festive in my hometown of Kamwenge in western Uganda. I have lived in Saskatchewan for 13 years and the Christmas season still inspires me the most. Throw the pandemic into the mix and the dream of Christmas in Kamwenge is still out of reach.
