CAIRO - 25 October 2023: China's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Zhang Jun, praised the Egyptian efforts made to open a humanitarian corridor to the Gaza Strip, stressing his country's appreciation for this role. He said that despite the efforts made to open a humanitarian corridor, the humanitarian supplies currently allowed to Gaza are still insufficient, and the Rafah land crossing alone cannot fundamentally meet the humanitarian needs in Gaza. He pointed out that his country provided emergency humanitarian aid through the Palestinian National Authority and United Nations agencies, respectively, and that it would continue to provide in-kind aid based on The needs of the people of Gaza. He concluded by saying, "We maintain close contacts with the parties concerned and play a responsible and constructive role in achieving a ceasefire, protecting civilians, and avoiding a greater humanitarian catastrophe. China has no self-interest regarding the Palestine issue, and any initiative that contributes to peace will enjoy China's strong support, and that China will make every effort to pursue any effort that facilitates Palestinian-Israeli reconciliation.”
