China called on Monday (March 2, 2026) for a ceasefire and diplomatic talks to end the conflict in West Asia, as it stretched into a third day. Israel and the United States have been conducting strikes on Iran and Lebanon, with the conflict extending to regional neighbours. Beijing warned its citizens last week against travelling to Iran for the time being “in light of the current security situation”. More than 3,000 Chinese nationals have left Iran as of Monday (March 2). U.S. President Donald Trump is set to visit China from March 31 to April 2 for his first trip to the Asian power of his second term.
